Iran film to vie at China festival

Iranian film ‘Being Born’ is scheduled to be screened at Shanghai International Film Festival, China.

This will be the ninth international screening of the film produced by Mohammad Ahmadi.

Directed by Mohsen Abdolvahab, ‘Being Born’ has been screened at various international film festivals and won the Grand Prix at the Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France.

The 90-minute film deals with the universal question of abortion, with burning issues in many countries. This portrayal of Iranian middle class also tackles other social challenges.

Founded in 1993, Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) as the only competitive film festival in China approved by FIAPF has focused on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform, and promote the development of the Chinese film industry.

Kicking off on June 17 in China, the event is scheduled to wrap up June 26.
